Well sure I can cool the area needed for maybe one can of sode, but thats no big deal, the question is can I cool an area the size of my 5 gallon fermenter? So I built a bigger box out of foam as you can see below duct tape can be used for anything. This had a full on/off temperature control.
Well this proved two things. Given enough time I could cool the area down to the correct temperature, but it took a few days. I feel like this is acceptable for a few reasons. First as you might imagin, duct tape doesn't make a very good thermal barier. The second cutting the foam by hand lead to some pretty nasty corners. Both of these combined meant I could feel leaks all around the test setup.
Overall I felt like this was a successful test, I just needed to improve my cutting skills and it should come together.
